James M. Gocke
Jim Gocke is a founding member of the firm. Practicing primarily in commercial real estate, small business and estate work, Jim serves clients from many jurisdictions as they look to Iowa for investment opportunities. Jim has assisted clients in tax deferred exchanges nationwide totaling in excess of $500,000,000.00.
Jim gained additional knowledge and experience in the commercial real estate and development practice when he took a leave of absence from his practice and was President and General Counsel for a prominent local developer.
Since his return to his private practice, the
knowledge gained has allowed him to advise his clients with a thorough
understanding of the demands of their business.
Coming from a background of farming, teaching and small business, Jim is able to relate to the needs of his clients on a personal basis. He counts many of his clients as friends outside of his practice.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Drake Law School, Jim has been a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Polk County Bar Association since 1989. Jim is active in the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce, serving as President in 2002, the Ankeny Rotary, serving as President in 2000, and Bondurant Lions, serving as President in 2001. Jim currently serves as an appointed member of the Board of the Polk County Aviation Authority, a member of the Valley Bank Board and has served on numerous other local boards and committees.
Jim and his wife of 32 years, Kathy, have 3 grown children. Jim enjoys many activities outside of the office, including golf, hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
